Nickelodeon Favorites: Sisters and Brothers DVD

by Tammi on January 25, 2011 · 17 comments
When I was expecting the Twins, programs which featured siblings really helped my daughter get used to the fact that she was going to be a big sister. Dora has twin siblings, so that was a huge help to me. And at the time, Isabelle just loved Dora so she liked that fact that they had something in common. On February 8th, Nickelodeon is releasing the DVD, Nickelodeon Favorites: Sisters and Brothers. This latest compilation DVD contains episodes from Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, Blue’s Clues, Wonder Pets!, and Ni Hao, Kai-lan. And, each episode contains a story of brothers and sisters, the family unit, kindness and the love shared between siblings. My girls love this DVD since it has a bit of all their favorite characters.I’m personally hoping it helps with the twin toddlers’ fighting – man, nothing prepared me for that! If anything, they watch with interest and for the time this DVD is on – all is well in my chaotic household. Ya!
Created by Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment, Nickelodeon Favorites: Sisters and Brothers is available for the suggested retail price of $16.99 and ha over two hours of educational entertainment for preschoolers, as well as Team Umizoomi music videos {Numbers Everywhere and Acorn Flower Pattern}
Dora the Explorer – Big Sister Dora
Dora has some really exciting news: someone new is joining Dora’s family! Someone who sleeps in a cradle, drinks from a bottle, wears diapers, and likes to be rocked to sleep.  Dora’s Mami is having a baby! Maybe it’s a boy…or maybe it’s a girl. Dora and Boots have to get home quickly to find out!
Go, Diego, Go! – To Babysit a Bobo
The Bobos’s are on their way to the Spider Monkey Fiesta with their 3 new Baby Bobo Sisters.  And as the Bobos search for fruit for the party, the restless Bobo Sisters speed off into the forest to look for fruit without them!
Blue’s Clues – The Baby’s Here!
While waiting for Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper to call from the hospital with news of the new baby here, Paprika prepares to be a big sister.  Looking at baby books gives everyone a chance to learn about what they were like when they were really little.
Wonder Pets! – KalamaZoo! / Back to KalamaZoo!
Ming-Ming visits her Aunt Eleanora at the local petting zoo during a school holiday.  Eleanora asks Ming-Ming to take care of her toddler cousin, Marvin, for the afternoon.  Ming-Ming thinks this will be a “piece-of-cake” but Marvin proves to be quite a spirited little Duck.  Ming-Ming must learn to look beyond her own needs and find the patience and compassion to take care of Marvin.
Ni Hao, Kai-lan – Hoho’s Big Flight
On the day of the big lantern festival to celebrate the end of Chinese New Year, Grampa gives Kai-lan some lanterns for her and her friends to decorate.  But when Hoho’s lantern flies away, he jumps on it, and everyone goes on a big chase to get him down!

The Lucado Life Lessons Bible

The Lucado Life Lessons Study Bible by Max Lucado is a Study Bible with devotionals and Life Lessons throughout.  It has a very nice index with searches by topics of interest, which makes it easier to use and find information you are looking for.  This Bible is a New King James Version, which is the version I am most accustomed to and this leads me to enjoy this Bible even more.

This Bible is very easy to use with all of the search features to find content including information in the Life Lessons and Devotionals plus it has an index to search for certain Bible verses.  Also, the verses are in more of a paragraph single column format which makes it more reader friendly.  Another feature that I enjoy is that the Words are a bit bigger than usually which is nice for me as I don’t have great vision.

I really enjoyed the study tools, especially the Life Lessons which are included throughout in the margins.  I was kind of hoping the Life Lessons were a bit longer, like the devotionals, but inclusion of the devotionals makes up for this.
This is a nice, durable Bible with pages that do not rip easily like some of the other do.  It is hardcover, and it does have a sleeve, which I set aside as I usually rip them if I don’t.  I think the size of the print is just right and it is in an easy to read format and font.

I would definitely recommend this Bible to others, first, because it is written by a great author who I enjoy reading and this does not disappoint.  Also, for a Bible in general it is user friendly and easy to read.  If you are looking for an everyday Bible or something with great devotionals and commentaries, (Life Lessons) this is one you should consider purchasing.
